Cradle Mountain

Day 1

semi-overcast 73 °F

In the morning, we walked around the national park. In the afternoon we went to a Tasmanian devil conservatory called Devils@Cradle. They taught us all about the disease that is killing the devils. The disease is a rare type of cancer that grows on the face and only animals are susceptible to it. They don't know who the first devil was that got it, but they do know that is spreads VERY quickly. It spreads by mouth, and when playing, devils bite each other. That is how the cancer spreads. We got to pet a devil, and watch them play. We also got to feed them. It was cool to watch them try to find the hidden food. It was like they were in the wild, hunting.

Swansea to Cradle Mountain

overcast 71 °F

Today we drove from Swansea to Cradle Mountain National Park. We took a night tour at 9:00 p.m. and saw some REALLY cool animals! We saw wallabies, padymelons (little wallabies), and wombats! We even saw a Tasmanian devil, which is rare because they aren't found in the wild much anymore. It was awesome!

Today we drove from Hobart to a little town called Swansea. We spent the afternoon walking around the nearby national park. It wasn't the best place we've been, but it was okay.

Hobart

Day 1/2/3

sunny 65 °F

These three days we spent exploring Hobart. The Hobart Wooden Boat Festival was going on, so we got to see boat races and boat building. There was also an ice skating rink which was very fun. And if you are a seafood person, go to Hobart! Hobart is the seafood capital of the world!
