Hamilton Island

Day 1

sunny 84 °F

Today, in the morning, we hung out at the pool. It was SO HOT that the pool water felt like bath water. It was fun though, because the bar by the pool served mocktails which are non-alchoholic cocktails for kids! We then had lunch in the café at the wildlife center and afterwards saw some kangaroos, koalas, turtles, snakes and cockatoo birds. We then climbed into our golf cart and drove around the island. We drove up to the highest point on the island which had a beautiful chapel up on top. We looked around the chapel and then drove back to our hotel.

sunny 70 °F

Today we drove to Brisbane to catch our flight to Hamilton Island on the Great Barrier Reef. Hamilton Island is part of he Great Barrier Reef's Whitsunday Islands. One-hundred people are permanent residents on Hamilton Island, and they mainly use golf carts to drive around instead of cars. We rented a golf carts when we got there to drive ourselves form the hotel to the little town.

Gold Coast

Day 2

sunny 80 °F

Today the sun came out! We got up early and went to a theme park called Dreamworld! We also went to its neighbor water-park, Whitewater World! We had a great time on the roller-coasters and water-slides. Dad even went down a couple of water-slides too! This evening, we went to a rodeo show called The Australian Outback Spectacular! It was a dinner-show, so we had dinner whilst watching the rodeo. It was a great show with horses and cows and people performing crazy tricks. It was a FABULOUS day!

Gold Coast

Day 1

rain 75 °F

Today, it rained ALL DAY. It was kind of disappointing because our hotel has a very nice pool and I wanted to go swimming. It all turned out alright though, because we got to go indoor go-karting! We went twice and I beat Dad both times! It was a good day after all!

Dunedin to the Gold Coast, Australia

storm 77 °F

Today we flew from Dunedin to the state of Queensland, Australia. We picked up our rental car and drove to our hotel in the city of Southport on the Gold Coast. It was not an easy drive because we came right in the middle of a monsoon (tropical storm)!
