Machu Picchu

Day 1

sunny 77 °F

Today we went back up to Machu Picchu to explore the other part. We looked at the Incan temple and some of the rooms where they slept. Most of the the buildings are in great shape which is very surprising considering PerĂº gets many earthquakes per year!

Cusco to Machu Picchu

sunny 76 °F

Today we took the Hiram Bingham train to Machu Picchu. It was a very nice and comfortable four hour train ride with beautiful countryside. When we arrived in Machu Picchu we explored the ruins for a couple hours. The building are huge and the city stretches as far as the eye can see! The surroundings are beautiful with many hills and mountains in the distance.

Day 3

semi-overcast 76 °F

Today, we explored two of Cusco's beautiful churches. They are very lovely and decorated prettily with gold, wood and lots of statues of the saints. We spent most of our day walking around Cusco's main square and relaxing in our room.

Day 1

semi-overcast 70 °F

Today we went to visit the Santa Catalina Monastery. Today, nuns still live in a part of the monastery. It was very beautiful with it's own narrow streets and wash basins to music and a large square courtyard with large crosses in the center. Nuns pray about seven to eight hours a day!
